If ammo manufacturers are working "24/7" to keep up with demand, what is the best way to get that ammo "hot off the press"? Are the only gun owners getting newly-manufactured ammo those who backorder the stuff?

Unfortunately, the little Mom & Pop stores are the last to get ammo ... the manufacturers always supply their big customers first. Internet companies like MidwayUSA and Cheaper than Dirt will usually get re-supplied first.
Altho they're feeling the shortage as well, they will back order items they know they have a commitment for.

Looking for .223 ammo @ $7.29 a box? Well, go to Cheaper than Dirt HERE by midnight 2/14/10 & buy as much as you like via their website.
I buy most of my ammo at MidwayUSA & Cheaper than Dirt. They usually have the best supplies & prices.
